Simple real-time measurement of refractive index of fluids
In a cooperation with researchers at the universities of Padua and Freiburg, we have developed a method to measure the refractive index of fluids. Using a simple imaging configuration of two lenses through the volume of a rectangular channel and straightforward image processing, our method is potentially cost-effective and suitable for real-time measurements. Possible applications include hence the monitoring of fluids flowing through pipes, e.g., for quality control or monitoring chemical processes.
